About Self Help for Life
I’m Paul Thomas and I would like to thank you for checking out this page.
Self Help for Life has 2 core principles.
- Information, inspiration, motivation, strategies and techniques that you can use to improve all areas of your life.
- Effective long term strategies that you can use for the rest of your life.
Self Help for Life started in 2017 and developed from my Success with Paul website that I started in 2016.
My intention with Self Help for Life is to help you improve all areas of your life. My main focus will be mindset, psychology and mental ways to help you do this. However, I will also cover health & wellbeing, and online business development too.
Most of my information will be in video and written form. It is based on my experience of what works for me and for the other people that I have helped.
About Paul
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist running a successful private practice in Sydney, Australia. I am also an Internet Entrepreneur and have a passion for helping others succeed in all areas of their lives.
Here is a brief history of my life up until now. You will see that I was just a normal kid, but with a drive to become something more!
Early Years
I was born in Dunedin New Zealand and I lived there until I was 8 years old. My family then moved to the UK and for the next few years, I lived in Sandbach, a small town in Cheshire. Moving to the UK at 8 years old was a massive upheaval for me. I became very shy and found it difficult to make new friends.
My parents were both music teachers, so I followed their steps and started playing the French Horn. Whilst everyone else was excelling at sports, I was slowly and steadily becoming rather good at playing the French Horn. It was also at this time, that I realised that music (pop, rock and classical) was becoming a big interest for me.
My days at school were fairly normal. I had a few close friends, but still lacked a certain amount of confidence in myself and had to work hard to achieve good grades.
University
I was in this new place, surrounded by 18 year olds most of whom had left home for the first time. No one knew the old me, so I took on a new persona and became a lot more extravert and confident. For me, going to University was as much about life experience as getting a degree. At this time, I also discovered meditation and used it as a way to help me through my final exams.
London Life
After graduation, I moved to London and that’s when my interest in Personal Development really began. I joined an NLP practice group and went on to become an NLP practitioner. I also completed a number of other courses such as the Landmark Forum. I was a pretty confident young man now, but still had an acute shyness around women which I slowly overcame with the help of books such as “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” by Susan Jeffers. Around this time, I became dissatisfied with the 9 to 5 routine and attempted a couple of network marketing businesses which didn’t do so well.
2000 was a big year for me as I met my future wife Rita. We went on to get married in 2003 and we are still happily married today. I became a Software Trainer (a job I loved doing!) and it felt that my life was finally coming together. I even had a successful DJ business on the side. With life going so well, my interest in Personal Development dropped a little, but I would still go to the occasional seminar with Rita (as she is quite into self improvement too.)
Big Move to Australia
At the end of 2009 we emigrated to Australia and now live in Sydney. This move really bought us closer together and we love the outdoor lifestyle here. However, I had become bored of being a Software Trainer and I still had this yearning to work for myself. I started to immerse myself more in Personal Development material, especially the Law of Attraction and Hypnosis. In 2014 I started an Email Newsletter to share my new knowledge and developed a following of 13,000 people over the next 18 months. In 2015, I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and started my own hypnotherapy business shortly after that.
So as you can see, I’m just a normal guy with goals and dreams just like you have. I’ve taken some step along the way to achieve them and gained some wonderful results and learnings in the process.
By reading my articles, watching my videos and applying the information that I share, you can achieve the same (or even better) results for yourself.
If you have any comments or information to share, feel free to contact me. I’d love to hear from you!
To your success
Paul Thomas
